'Twas The Night Before Kick off

‘Twas the night before Kickoff and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a Zimmel.

Kind of a campy way to start this newsletter off, but hey, someone’s gotta do it, right?

We are absolutely pumped for this season. And according to national media projections, we’re not alone on our sky high hopes for the team either.

Rat poison.

It all changes tomorrow, where the rubber meets the road, where men are made and depth charts are solidified, out with the fanfare, theatrics, and smoke show and in with reality.

This week on the show we had our boy Ishmael Johnson from DCTF stop by and drop some wisdom on why he thinks things have been so wacky and crazy in the 78666 and why this year could very well be the year of the ‘Cats.

We asked some of you all about where we finish the regular season and it looks like a lot of you all are with us. 12-0 in the lead with hours left to vote as I type this newsletter now.

This is a surreal experience for us. I’ve been dreaming of covering a team like this for a long time, but I also got my journalism chops covering all the other ones. That’s where I met Ish actually for the first time in the press box at then Bobcat Stadium, covering a losing season.

There are literally at this point too many things I want to say, want to know, what to see about, by and form this team, but I think tonight I’ll end here. Just like a lot of y’all, I’ll have trouble sleeping tonight and I can’t wait to get out there.

Here’s to this year, here’s to kickoff.
