Guess Who's Back? Back Again!

Jakey's Back, Tell A Friend

Off rip, I apologize.

I have not sent out a newsletter since September 21, 2024.

Back then the Bobcats had just suffered their first defeat at the hands of the Arizona State Sun Devils (now 5-2) and we were in the midst of a bye week.

That bye week would come and go and I eventually made the trip back up from the Rio Grande Valley to Houston by my lonesome, without Andy to keep me company in the box or otherwise due to Zimmel’s work-life balance.

Shellshocked in the press box that week, I got to write a great article from Sam Houston’s perspective after they handed us our second loss of the season in the home of the 3-28 Super Bowl comeback game!

Big womp womp status.

On the return home though, Texas State came back to play in great form for the Sun Belt Opener at Troy and then did the same hosting Arkansas State.

While all of this is going on, I made a big change at my real full-time job.

Very exciting stuff, but it’s thrown off my usual show rhythm.

You’ll remember for nine entire weeks we had guests on the show week after week. But with my availability change and Andrew’s already tough schedule. Things have been taking a lot more coordination than usual. So, I apologize again, a lot more moving pieces this year than last year.

Oh, yeah I also completely missed the Arkansas State game due to my cousin having a fall wedding. So, I haven’t even been at UFCU Stadium for the entire month of October.

So, where the hell does that leave us now?

Actually, pretty much exactly where this newsletter left off.

We just took a massive L at the hands of, checks notes, The Old Dominion University Monarchs. I repeat, The Old Dominion University Monarchs. Now we sit in the middle of our second bye week.

Shoutout to the Monarchs, the team played some great teams close early on in the season and apparently made a change at QB and in their style of play that has just now leapfrogged them to the top of the Sun Belt East. Talk about Fun Belt, huh?

As we lick our wounds, both literal and metaphorical with my recent drinking pattern, the Bobcats are set to play their third mid-week game of the year on Halloweek! The team sits at 4-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

Now, the Bobcats are set to host the bad boys of the West, the Ragin’ Cajuns! Who sit at 6-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play.

To say this game matters is an understatement. It may very well go down in history as the turning point for the year for this team, either way it goes.

College Football Playoff hopes are basically dead. SBC Title Game hopes go out of the door with a loss next week and the bowl games start to get a little less shiny when you stack a fourth loss on the board.

Needless to say, this game is must see Tv for myself and every other Bobcat fan. As the newsletter returns, so to do I at UFCU Stadium!

Kinda poetic actually that I just procrastinated this to the point where I could pick it back up during the second bye week and the tram is basically in the same spot where we left off, only a lot more on the line.

The team had an insane amount of pressure on it in the beginning. College Football Playoff talk, realignment rumors. We’re back to playing football for the most part, win lose or tie and that’s kind of nice.

Speaking of Bobcats on the rise, check out my latest for DCTF I wrote while I was back home on vacation:

Ayo! Got to talk to SWT alum Travis Bush building things big back home. That was a really cool moment for me, hopefully I’ll get back to writing something positive about the Bobcats at the stadium again next week.

Oh yeah, here is this week’s show:

My mom has already complained about the glasses btw.

Newsletters are back, show isn’t going anywhere, thanks for your patience!
