Better Late Than Never

No, I did not forget about the newsletter again

Pretty much right after we clicked stop on our recording this week, I asked Zimmel one question: If The Bobcats won four in a row to end the year 8-4, would he be satisfied?

The answer: A resounding yes.

Took me a while to sort of make that same peace with the season with myself as well. Zimmel is a much more instant-reaction person and a lot more level-headed than me.

Now that we have taken the Godzilla-sized monkey off of our backs that is any hope of making it into the expanded college football playoffs, wouldn't you rather things end on a good note than a bad?

Better late than never, yeah?

I guess it depends on who you ask, but if we had a very quiet opening to the season and then suddenly we busted the CFP piggy bank open and went on a run and then fell on the finish line, I would kind of hate it.

Looking toward this Saturday and a date with the mighty ULM Warhawks led by Bryant Vincent — who, when asked G.J. said is likely the SBC coach of the year after what he has done. I am scared and excited. It also falls on a Wurstfest weekend! Capping off an election week and everything that goes with that.

No, Texas State does not control it’s own destiny when it comes to the post-season, but it never really did anyway. All we can hope for is a nice bowl game at this point, but hey that’s hard enough to do.

What did we think after two years we were going to be the little powerhouse that could? I wish it were that easy. Maybe we all did count our chickens before they could hatch, but hey— gotta be thankful for the chickens that we do have now.

Things could always be worse! I guess you’ll know by the tone of my next email!

Thanks for Squarin’!
